Long Weekend in London Days 2 and 3

Sunday:

The itinerary for the morning scheduled church at the Guards Chapel, however, on our journey we came across the 2023 Royal Irish Regiment Association Cenotaph Parade.

We also found the Life Guards on duty with their riders 🤣, police horses on duty with their riders 😂 and  the ‘can’t go by without taking a photo’ red telephone box.

After all these distractions we made it to Church on time! Here are some sites and sounds of the service.

Following a lovely service full of rich music and a great sermon, we headed next door to the Guards Museum.  Here I (Victoria) learnt about everything Tony already knew about Guards uniforms and history.

On the way back to our accomodation we discovered a station named after me (Victoria)…and it was as magnificent and royal as its namesake 😉

Monday:

Pack-up bags, exit the hotel and head to the “Wallace Collection”, a museum in London. It is named after Sir Richard Wallace and displays his collection of 15th to 19th century paintings, ceramics, furniture, arms and armour. Here are a few pics - sorry we didn’t get paintings or ceramics. We were too engrossed and forgot to take any.

We were very grateful for the recommendation of this museum from my Mum whose good friend Lisa Palmer originally told her of the place. Before leaving we took advantage of the 3 course meal offered in the Wallace Restaurant. A beautiful room with a glass ceiling. Sounds romantic doesn’t it? It would be if it wasn’t a sweltering hot day with the heat coming in through the glass…We were very thankful for their prompt service and delicious food.

With full bellies, our suitcases and the heat of the day we made the decision to catch an iconic Black London Cab back to St Pancras Station to catch the Eurostar back to France.
